UV-C Sterilization Bio Safety Cabinet – 15Ltrs
WHAT IS ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT?
Ultraviolet (UV) is that part of electromagnetic light bounded by the lower wavelength extreme of the visible spectrum and the Xray radiation band. The spectral range of UV light is, by definition between 100 and 400 nm (1 nm=10-9m) and is invisible to human eyes. Using the CIE classification the UV spectrum is subdivided into 3 bands:
1. UVA(long wave) from 315 to 400nm
2. UVB(medium wave) from 280 to 315nm
3. UVC(short wave) from 100 to 280nm
What is UV-C technology?
UV-C is found within 100-280 nm range. A strong germicidal effect is provided by the Light in the short-wave UVC band.In the graph it can be seen that germicidal action is maximized at 265 nm with reductions on either side. UV-C lamps used in UV-C Disinfection/Sterilization/ Sanitization Bio safety Cabinet, have their main emission at 254 nm where the action on DNA is 85% of the peak value and 80% on the IES curve. The high energy from short wavelength UVC light is absorbed in the cellular RNA and DNA,leading to molecular structural damage via a photodimerization process damaging nucleic acids and preventing microorganisms from infecting and reproducing. This results in virus inactivation, such that they are no longer able to replicate. As a result, germicidal lamps are extremely effective in breaking down the DNA of micro-organisms. This means that they cannot replicate and cause further disease.
